Savings adhesive tapes

A technical saving tape is a temporary masking solution used to protect a specific area during an industrial operation. It prevents paint, deposits, splashes, or treatments from altering the parts that must remain intact. After the operation, the tape is removed to reveal a clean and clearly defined surface.

A standard masking tape is primarily intended for common painting tasks. A technical saving tape is designed for more demanding industrial processes, which may involve high temperatures, chemicals, mechanical stresses, or multiple treatment cycles. Its backing, adhesive, and thickness must be precisely suited to the operation being performed.

Technical saving tapes can be used for liquid or powder painting, anodising, surface treatment, sandblasting, spraying, plasma masking, and certain thermal processes. They are particularly useful for protecting threads, contacts, fixing areas, functional surfaces, or parts that should not receive a coating.

The choice mainly depends on the substrate to be protected, the temperature of the process, the duration of exposure, and the type of treatment applied. It is also necessary to take into account the mechanical resistance, the flexibility of the tape, its level of adhesion, and the removal conditions. The geometry and dimensions of the area to be masked must also be considered.

Polyester is suitable for many industrial masking and thermal treatment operations. Polyimide is suitable for applications requiring high heat resistance and good dimensional stability. Glass fabric offers high mechanical resistance and can meet more demanding processes, including certain thermal or plasma masking.

Some masking tapes are designed to ensure a clean removal after treatment. However, the result depends on the temperature, the duration of application, the nature of the surface, and adherence to the conditions of use. An exposure that is too long or exceeds the capabilities of the tape can cause adhesive transfer or make removal more difficult.

The surface must be clean, dry, and representative of the parts actually treated. It is recommended to conduct a test under the conditions of the process to check adhesion, tape resistance, masking tightness, and removal quality.
