An adhesive dispenser with a liner rewinder is a machine that dispenses and cuts strips of tape while separating their protective backing. The removed liner is automatically rewound onto a dedicated reel. The operator thus retrieves a strip of adhesive ready to be applied, without having to manually remove the protective film.

The liner is the paper or protective film placed on the sticky side of certain adhesive tapes. It prevents the adhesive from sticking to itself during storage and unwinding. It is mainly present on double-sided adhesive tapes, transfer tapes, adhesive foams, and some technical adhesives.

The liner rewinder prevents the removed backings from accumulating on the work surface or around the machine. It limits handling, facilitates the application of strips, and helps maintain a cleaner and better-organised workstation. This function is particularly useful for repetitive assembly, fixing, or industrial production operations.

A classic automatic dispenser distributes and cuts adhesive tape, but does not necessarily remove its protective backing. A model with a liner take-up separates the liner during unwinding and automatically rewinds it. This presents the operator with a tape that is ready to use, which reduces the time spent on manually removing the backing.

These machines are primarily designed for double-sided adhesive tapes, single-sided tapes with a protective film, adhesive foams, and certain technical adhesives with liners. Compatibility also depends on the width, thickness, and flexibility of the tape, as well as the dimensions of the roll and the strength of the protective backing.

Some models allow for precise adjustment of the tape lengths and can memorise several formats. The operator can quickly switch from one size to another or prepare batches of regular tapes. The number of memorisable lengths, cutting ranges, and dispensing modes vary depending on the chosen machine.

The choice depends on the width of the tape, the outer diameter of the roll, the diameter of the core, and the required cutting lengths. It is also important to consider the material of the liner, the production speed, the memory functions, and the dispensing mode. For thick, flexible, or technical adhesives, testing with the actual roll used is recommended.
