Cold cutting

A cold cutting machine is an industrial device that unwinds, measures, and automatically cuts materials without using a heated blade. The operator typically programmes the desired length and quantity of pieces, and then the machine repeats the cuts regularly. This solution helps to preserve the properties of the material without melting it or subjecting it to thermal modification.

Depending on the chosen machine, cold cutting can be used for textile ribbons, straps, sleeves, tubes, cords, cables, Velcro®, plastic films, strapping, or other non-adhesive technical materials. Compatibility depends on the width, thickness, rigidity, and behaviour of the material during its feeding.

Cold cutting is recommended when the material should not be heated or when its edges do not require sealing. It is particularly suitable for materials that naturally maintain a clean cut and are unlikely to fray. Hot cutting is more appropriate for synthetic or textile materials whose ends need to be welded after cutting.

Once the reel is installed, the material passes between the guides and the drive rollers. The operator sets the length, the quantity of pieces and, depending on the model, the distribution speed. The machine then unwinds the material, measures the programmed length, makes the cut and automatically repeats the cycle until the end of the series.
